In the Quran it is mentioned:
”Who took His slave (Muhammad) for a journey by night from Al‑Masjid Al‑Haraam (at Makkah) to Al‑Masjid Al‑Aqsa (in Jerusalem), the neighbourhood whereof We have blessed, in order that We might show him (Muhammad) of Our Ayaat (proofs, evidences, lessons, signs, etc.). Verily, He is the All‑Hearer, the All‑Seer” [al-Isra’ 17:1]
On this Night, Angel Jibreal took the Prophet at night from the Ka’bah to the mosque in Jerusalem, where they reached Jerusalem the Prophet along with other Prophets offered Prayers behind Muhammed (PBUH). Jibrael then took him to the Heavens and the Prophet met several great Prophets in Islam. This was also when the Prophet (PBUH) reached the highest point in the heavens and was given the Honour of Allah’s Divine Presence. On this Night, the Salah number was obligated at five times a day from fifty. Allah has bestowed us with many blessings.
Also another special significance to this Night, which is not talked about much, is the Hijama. As you may be aware Hijama is a very well-known sunnah. Hijama is so important that on the night journey, when Prophet Mohammad (SAW) went on Isra and Mairaj, He was ordered to establish Hijama in his Ummah, by every Angel he came across.
The Prophet pbuh said, I did not pass by any group of angels on the night of Al Isra’, except they said to me: “O Muhammad, tell your nation to do Cupping”. Ibn Majah, 3477
Narrated By Abu Hurayrah : The Prophet pbuh said: The best medical treatment you apply is cupping. (Sahih Bukhari, Abu Dawud Book 22. Medicine)
Malik related to me that he heard that the Prophet pbuh said, “If there is a remedy that will reach the disease, then cupping will reach it.” (Maliks Muwatta Book 54)
Imagine…something that is so important, that our Prophet (saw) was ordered to establish…and most of us do not even know about it! How do you feel about that? Would you say that we have some kind of responsibility to revive this important sunnah?

[Saheeh Al-Bukhaaree (5681), Sunan ibn Maajah (3491)].

[Saheeh Sunan abi Dawud (3858)].
